Us to spend 200 billion US dollars on China
CNN just reported that the U.S. Senate passed the U.S. innovation and competition act of 2021 with 68 votes in favor and 32 votes against local time on the 8th. The bill aims to invest more than $200 billion in technology, science and research in the United States to counter China's growing influence, the report said.
Reported that Vermont Independent Senator Bernie Sanders is the only member of the Democratic Party to vote against the bill. Another 19 Republican senators voted with Democrats for the bill.
According to a previous report in the Wall Street Journal, the U.S. innovation and competition act of 2021 aims to reform the U.S. government's support for science by substantially enhancing the role of the U.S. government in scientific research, including promoting the development of science and technology through the National Science Foundation. Although the final details may change, according to the CBO's analysis, the bill will approve about $190 billion in spending to strengthen advanced technology in the United States, and allocate $54 billion to increase the production of semiconductors, microchips and telecommunications equipment, as well as provisions to reduce dependence on Chinese enterprises and technology.
In response to the bill aimed at enhancing US economic competitiveness and coping with China's rise, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said on May 28 that recently, China has repeatedly expressed its solemn position on the US Congress's promotion of the deliberation of bills containing negative contents related to China. He pointed out that the relevant bill ignores the facts, exaggerates the so-called threat and malicious influence of China, encourages China to engage in comprehensive strategic competition, and even provokes the decoupling and confrontation between China and the United States, which is unpopular. This also runs counter to the common desire of the people of the two countries and the world to expect exchanges and cooperation between China and the United States. China firmly opposes this¡° China's goal has never been to surpass or replace the United States, not to compete with the United States, but to constantly surpass itself, become a better China, and let the Chinese people live a better life. " Zhao Li insisted that as the world's top two economies, China and the United States have highly integrated interests, and the essence of bilateral cooperation in economy and trade, science and technology, education and other fields is mutual benefit and win-win. The cooperation between China and the United States will benefit both sides, while the fight will hurt both sides. Sino US cooperation can accomplish many major events beneficial to both countries and the world. Sino US confrontation is a disaster to both countries and the world¡° I would like to reiterate that China is committed to achieving no conflict, no confrontation, mutual respect and win-win cooperation with the United States, and will continue to firmly safeguard national sovereignty, security and development interests. We urge the US side to have a correct attitude, look at China and China's development rationally, respect the legitimate right of the Chinese people to development, stop deliberating and promoting the negative bills related to China, so as not to damage Sino US relations and bilateral cooperation in important fields.
